JOIN OUR VOLUNTEER TEAM
Classroom Volunteers
We lean on community support during group instruction, such as Manners, Therapy Dog Prep, or Service Dog classes. A dedicated and capable volunteer can make the classroom experience more fruitful for our instructors and teams (dog + human). If you’re interested we would love to hear from you.
Basic requirements are:
• 18+ years of age
• Can commit to multi-month assignments
• Abide by our training methods
Volunteers primarily assist our training instructors during classes. This includes setting up the classroom before the class (moving chairs, setting up equipment, filling water bowls); cleaning up afterwards (putting away chairs and equipment, loading water bowls into the dishwasher, cleaning up dog accidents, and vacuuming); and assisting during the class, as requested by the instructor, with things such as practicing greeting the handler & dog, being a helpful distraction, and being supportive to the students. All volunteer assignments are considered long-term, so we cannot fulfill volunteer requests for court appointed community service or school assignments/requirements.

Admin Volunteers
As a small but mighty organization, Ability Dogs is always seeking supporters to lend their expertise. Areas of need include:
Administrative help for recurring assistance (e.g. coming to the office every Tuesday) and for special activities (e.g. silent auction planning, document shredding)
Event Support for both our larger events (e.g. Doggie Shorts) and smaller community events
Tech Support to help us navigate technical waters
